Vikings vs. Everyone!!!

Our game on Saturday was a forfeit because Skyline decided to cancel. So, thanks to Bingham and Davis, our guys were able to play a game that was probably more fun than a game with Skyline would have been because of the lack of stress from competition of playing a season game. Bingham agreed to stay and play the first half immediately after their game with Davis.....so they were probably a little tired but we won't dwell on that like they would like us to! I don't even know how many times our guys scored on them! Our coach Babinsky even got into the lineup to join in the fun!

The second half of the game we played Davis' team, who had had 40 minutes to rest, and even with Coach Bybee in there our team beat them!! Our Coach Garreth was refereeing but decided that he was missing out on all of the fun so he changed into some rugby clothes and just happened to have his cleats in his truck and joined in with Coach Babinsky and the guys to end out the year with a fun, non-competitive game of 'jungle ball'. They ignored the fact that the time had run out just so that Jameson could score a try because in his 3 years of playing rugby he had never scored once. He got about 2 feet to the goal line about 4 different times and was stopped each time this game but they (out of the goodness of their hearts and the fact that everyone loves the game!) played until he finally scored........and that ended the game.

After the final bow of the winners (I guess you could say they were the winners even though it was the weirdest combination of teams and players!) they went into some sort of tickling frenzy (or so it seemed to us bystanders!) I am not sure if that was a new ritual they just made up on the spot or what....they will have to explain that one to me so I can share it with all of you. (Okay....I just got the scoop on the so-called tickling frenzy.....it isn't tickling at all! They pinch those who made tries for the first time! Jameson has bruises to prove it!) All in all it was a great way to end the season (it really isn't the end yet because there is a tournament next Saturday for those who are interested in joining in...........you will need to contact Coach Babinsky on that one!) with a barbeque waiting for all those in attendance. THANKS to all those who contributed to the barbeque and were so willing to help out in other ways as well!

Watch for more details on the upcoming, end-of-the-year banquet to celebrate the successful year of the Viking Rugby team!!
